Who we are
goclarity.uk is run by Clarity Guides, an independent publisher based in Fife, Scotland. Clarity Guides is responsible for (the controller of) the personal data described here. Contact: hello@goclarity.uk.
What we collect and why
Guide ideas (the “Want a guide?” form)
The guide you suggest, your email, and your first name and thanks tick if you choose to give them. We use them to reply about your idea and, if we publish it and you agreed, to thank you by first name in the guide.
Free guide alerts
If you sign up to hear when new free guides land, we keep your email and your tick (stored by Netlify Forms) only to email you about new free guides, until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Error reports
If you use a “Spotted an error?” form, we keep what you tell us (and your email, only if you choose to give it) to check and fix the mistake and, if you asked, to reply.
Free downloads
When you download a free guide we log the download: the time, a download ID (printed in the PDF), your IP address and browser type. We use this to stop abuse and to trace copies that are misused. A short, scrambled version of your IP address is also used to limit how many downloads can be made a minute. We keep these logs only as long as we need them for this.
Buying a guide
Paid guides are sold through Gumroad, which takes the payment and sends your download. Gumroad’s own privacy policy applies to the purchase. Gumroad shares your email and order details with us so we can help with your order.
Cookies
We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies, and there are no adverts on this site. Pages with a form use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, so Google may set cookies and process technical data about your visit (see Google’s privacy policy). Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set strictly necessary security cookies.
Where it’s stored
The site, forms and download logs are hosted by Netlify, Inc. Cloudflare delivers and protects the site. Both act as our processors and may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
Children
Our forms are not meant for children under 13. If you are under 13, please ask a parent, carer or teacher to get in touch for you. Free guides can be downloaded without giving any personal details.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or for 24 months from your last contact, whichever comes first, unless the law says we must keep it longer.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing hello@goclarity.uk. If you’re unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
